Aviva Canada and Panorama Recreation are teaming up to raise funds for the introduction of community playboxes in our local parks, and they need your help!
Recognizing that sedentary behaviour lifestyle patterns have reached a historic high, that the art of free play is being lost and that social isolation is becoming the new norm, we feel that introduction of these playboxes to our Peninsula parks would be an invaluable step towards improving the health & wellbeing of our community. Including a collection of sports equipment and instructions for quick-play activities, community playboxes will be accessible by community members for free! A fixed storage container, each box will include everything from basketballs & soccer balls, to hula hoops & skipping ropes. In some cases, boxes will also contain unique pieces specific to the host park (ie. tennis & basic baseball equipment should the park feature suitable space). Equipment will be available for use anytime during park operational hours…consider it like a year-round Play in the Park program! – Hannah Nawroth, Panorama Recreation
In order for our proposal to advance to the final round for consideration by a panel of judges, support from the community & local businesses is needed. Voting began yesterday and will continue until 1pm October 28th. During this time, please consider showing your support for this idea through a vote or two, and spreading the word (all votes can be cast at once). https://www.avivacommunityfund.org/voting/project/view/16-557
